Sundance Film Forward travels to Colorado for the first time with filmmakers Ilinca Calugareanu (director, Chuck Norris vs. Communism) and Bryan Carberry (director, Finders Keepers). In partnership with Denver Film Society, Film Forward visits Denver with a showcase of free screenings, moderated discussions, and a filmmaker roundtable. Set in 1980s Romania, Chuck Norris vs. Communism documents the captivating story of a female translator who brought Western films beyond the Iron Curtain and ultimately sparked a revolution within the unlikely setting of the VHS black market. Finders Keepers takes audiences to a small American town in the South where two local men are entangled in a controversial custody battle over an amputated leg. • Program Collaborators

    Denver Film Society

Since 1978, the Denver Film Society has worked to promote the medium as both an art form and a civic forum, developing a program that includes year-round screenings, community outreach projects and renowned special events. It is in fact the only nonprofit organization in Colorado dedicated to engaging both its members and the general public in a lifelong, life-altering relationship with and understanding of film and film culture. The twin pillars it has built on the foundation of this vision are the award-winning Denver Film Festival, now in its third decade, and the Sie FilmCenter.
