Film Music

The Sundance Institute Film Music Program connects composers and directors, giving them first-hand experience of the collaborative process, with the goal of nurturing the development of music in film. At the Sundance Film Festival, the Program raises the profile of music in film through a series of concerts and panels.

"Music: the last major component of the filmmaking process, creates a unique atmosphere and tone. Now in its 16th year, with mentorship from leading composers in the field, our Program gives composers and directors first-hand experience, something not offered anywhere else." —Peter Golub

Since 1998, composer Peter Golub has led the Program and helped establish the curriculum for the Composers Labs held each summer at the Sundance Resort. Whether through international collaborations or through direct consultations with filmmakers, the Film Music Program is committed to enhancing the role of music in film year-round.
